The man who tied the Champions Tour record with eight consecutive birdies on Friday finished with a seven-under 65 in round two and completed 36 holes tied for the lead at eight-under-par 136.

 

Tom Purtzer also finished his second round on Saturday and birdied two of his last three holes for a five-under 67 and a share of first place.

 

Friday, Ozaki started in a tie for 34th place and began making up ground early when he kickstarted his streak with a chip-in birdie at the par-four second hole.

Ron Streck, who shared first with Zoeller on Thursday, struggled to a one-over 73 and is part of a group tied for 15th with the season's first two major winners - Loren Roberts (67) and Jay Haas (70). That group is at six-under-par 138.

 

Allen Doyle, who won last week's U.S. Senior Open, posted a second-round, three-over-par 75 and is tied for 40th place at minus-one.

 

Clarke began the third round with a three-shot lead and collected his first birdie at the fourth when he drained a seven-footer. He added another birdie at the par-five sixth to move to 13-under par, but trouble loomed.
