Devil Rays' Upton leaves game with injury

06/09/2007 - St. Petersburg, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tampa Bay center fielder B.J. Upton left the team's game against the Florida Marlins on Friday night with an apparent left leg injury.

Upton suffered the injury in the top of the first inning after grounding out to shortstop. He slowed up just before reaching first base, then fell to the ground after passing the bag. He remained down for several minutes before he was eventually helped off the field.

The team has not issued an update on the injury, though it appeared trainers were focusing on Upton's hamstring while treating him on the field.

Upton currently holds a team-best .320 average with nine homers and 31 RBI this season. He was replaced by Elijah Dukes in the bottom of the inning.
